Hikmat
Jaafer

Senior software engineer, full stack and frontend. I build real-time platforms for airports, government and hotels across the Gulf, working remotely from Damascus.

Open to remote frontend and full-stack roles

  • Riyadh King Khalid International Airport
  • Ajman and Dubai Government KPI platform, TDH, GIFTS
  • London Hsoub Academy

Selected work

Four platforms I built or led, all in production and used every day by operations teams, managers and guests.

The Digital Hotelier

The guest app and the operations dashboard hotels run on, and the generic layer underneath.

Role
Senior Frontend Engineer
When
2025 to now
Where
Remote, for a Dubai team

TDH runs the digital side of a hotel stay for hotels in seven countries. Guests scan a QR code to order, book or chat without installing an app, and staff run housekeeping, orders, training and reports from one dashboard.

  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • React Query
  • Redux Toolkit
  • Socket.IO
  • Pusher
  • PrimeReact
  • i18next
Housekeeping planner Front desk

Guest app

Real-time chat between guests and the hotel over Socket.IO, with voice notes, files and reply previews. The Servy assistant chat, and in-stay rentals with live price quotes.

Operations dashboard

A drag-and-drop housekeeping planner, live orders over Pusher, staff training and checklists, and morning-briefing, complaints and meter-reading reports. Prompt suggestions for OptemAi, TDH’s AI operations agent.

The generic layer

I designed the dashboard’s foundation so most screens are configured instead of hand-built: one HTTP and CRUD layer, tables driven by React Context, and forms generated from a schema. A new module is now a configuration plus its own business rules.

ServRoom

A marketplace that lets hotels sell outside services to their guests.

Role
Senior Frontend Engineer, through TDH
When
2025 to now
Company
A TDH company registered in the Netherlands

Restaurants, car rental, spas, pharmacies, tour desks and more sign up, set up their services and take orders from hotel guests, with revenue and statements in one place.

  • A config-driven provider engine I designed: one shared wizard, context, steps and validation. Fifteen service types run on it, and teammates add a new type with a config file and its own steps, following the developer guide I wrote.
  • Google and Apple sign-in with OTP, Arabic and English throughout, revenue and statement-of-accounts reports, and Mixpanel analytics.
  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • TanStack Query
  • React Hook Form
  • Zod
  • Radix UI
  • Vitest
  • Mixpanel

Smaller images on the ServRoom dashboard. Pages were slow because the design exports were 4,000-pixel PNGs hidden inside SVG files. I converted them to right-sized images and deleted 11 MB of unused files. Image sources went from 38.4 MB to 2.26 MB, and a 5.8 MB illustration now ships as 29 KB.

I also set up ServRoom’s test suite with Vitest and React Testing Library and wrote all 38 of its test files.

King Khalid International Airport

Every bus, route and station on one live map.

Role
Senior Frontend Engineer, then Frontend Lead
When
2022 to 2024, with OGEX
Where
Remote, for Saudi Arabia

A fleet and logistics platform used across several Saudi airports. Dispatchers follow buses between terminals and stations as they move, and cameras count passengers boarding and leaving.

  • Live bus tracking on Mapbox maps with routes, stations and geofences, updated over WebSocket and Pusher.
  • Separate portals for admins, dispatch, drivers, pilots and airline staff, each with its own permissions.
  • HLS camera streams and AI passenger counts feeding the operations reports.
  • Joined as a senior engineer and was promoted to lead the frontend.

Ajman Government

From a strategy to tracked work, with AI drafting the plan.

Role
Senior Full Stack Developer
When
2024 to 2026, with Tasqat
Where
Remote, for the UAE

A performance-management platform for a government. Strategic objectives break down into initiatives, projects and tasks, each with KPIs that roll up every quarter.

  • Operational plans generated with the OpenAI API, backed by a fine-tuning pipeline.
  • Multi-level approval workflows with committee and unit-manager roles, and a full audit log.
  • Quarterly performance calculations, plus reporting APIs for tasks, initiatives and general managers.
  • Frontend modules in React and Typeless, fully bilingual in Arabic and English.

GIFTS

One control room for a whole portfolio of gaming apps.

Role
Frontend Team Lead
When
2024 to 2025, with Magenus
Where
Remote, for the UAE

A hub that runs several mobile gaming apps at once. Players order rewards and gift codes; each app’s managers work in their own panel under one master admin, with users in many countries.

  • Led the frontend team: architecture, coding standards and code reviews.
  • A generic component and CRUD layer, so each new module plugs in instead of starting from scratch.
  • Dual portals with role-based access, live chat and notifications over Pusher, and a codes store.
  • Reporting dashboards in both right-to-left and left-to-right layouts.
